Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Salad and breadsticks were good, but otherwise I had a forgettable experience. I had the lasagna fritter as an appetizer which would have been more enjoyable had it not been room temperature. Next I had the southern Italy tour as my entree. The tour had far too much pepper, and once again was not thoroughly warmed. Service was not above average but was sufficient.

Who likes cold Lasagna?? Ugh, seriously kitchen staff!?? They need a QA/QC before all meals get served. Service is super slow too. Each time we've been, the service is beyond desirable.

Mom want to go to OG tonight after seeing several OG commercials. We ended up sitting in the bar area with Nate (the bartender) as our server. Mom and I both got the Tour of Italy. Mom was curious about one of their soups, but also wanted a salad. Nate brought the usual big bowl of salad, but also a sample of the soup mom asked about. The food was great, and they would have had five stars, but the lasagna was just warm, not hot. But everything was tasty and the OG would make a fortune if they could clone Nate!!!

Been many a year since I've stepped foot in an Olive Garden but my daughter loves the place and had received a $25 gift card for Christmas... So since there was finally a movie that hit in her age range (tween-ager) we went on a Daddy-Daughter date and she took me out to eat... I don't recommend showing up at 6 P.M. on a Saturday that's for sure.... however the wait would have been made much more bearable if the seating pagers they hand out wouldn't have been on the fritz... you couldn't walk out the front doors and sit on the numerous benches they have outside without the pagers totally freaking out.... This led to everybody waiting for a table staying crammed in the inadequate lobby... it was a nice evening and it couldn't be enjoyed...BUMMER NOW to the meal experience...ZERO complaints, once seated the service was timely and efficient (we made our movie even with a 35 minute wait for a table)...Alejandro was our server and he was top notch! Ordered the Seafood Alfredo and the daughter ordered the Cheese Ravioli.... both meals were excellently prepared and tasted wonderful... was pleased to see my daughter enjoy her order and the talk and laughter we shared were simply priceless.... Even with what seemed like an interminable wait, our meal and more importantly my time with my daughter were well worth it! I'll be open to returning but will be better prepared on an appropriate time to arrive...

Every time I've gone to an Olive Garden, I'm usually left disappointed. For the third time, this was no different. The minute you walk in, it smells like a stable. I opted for the Northern Tour of Italy (chicken lombardy, fettucine with mushrooms, and tortellini). My partner chose the chicken cacciatore, but it was unavailable since the "trucks" did not deliver yet. That was the first sign the food isn't made fresh. He decided to get the same order as me. The salad and bread sticks are fine. In fact, I really like the bread sticks. The salad is ok. We dug into our starter for no more than 2 min when our entrees arrived. The restaurant was crowded so we were very surprised to receive our food so quickly, not to mention so quickly after receiving the salad. Upon first impression, the plating was unappetizing. For such a large plate, the food could not be more disjointed. Either our portions were too small or it needed to be served on a smaller plate. Also, the food was cold. We switched immediately to entrees to avoid that. Comparing my plate to my partners, it looked like two different cooks put it together. Different components were missing on each plate and the sauces were different colors for the same dish. The chicken was a flat, thin breaded patty with a thick layer of cheese on top sprinkled with bacon. I had no mushrooms in my fettucine, which had a clumpy sauce that separated. My partner was kind enough to let me try his mushrooms and they were good. The tortellini was my favorite out of the three items. Was it great? No, but it was better than the chicken or fettucine. For $17, I expected 100x better. I don't consider myself a good cook, but I can make better food than I was served. This is the last time I will eat at an Olive Garden.

It's the Olive Garden. You know what you're going to get. Make sure to check in and get the 2 for 25 deal; otherwise, you're just going to be paying too much to eat OK "Italian" food. I love the chicken parm there... for some reason. And the breadsticks are delicious. The salad came with too much dressing for my taste, but maybe that's just Baton Rouge? Overall, I go for nostalgia. And I'm a bit shamed to put it on my yelp feed that I went to Olive Garden, but who cares? Really?

It is Olive Garden -- expecting more is not suggested. The food was average. The service was decent and the total charge was reasonable. I am convinced that there are better Italian places in Baton Rouge, but didn't feel like driving around looking. Olive Garden (as usual) is right off the interstate and easy to get in and out quickly.

As always Olive Garden never disappoints! Breadsticks, salad, soups galore! Had gnocchi and chicken soup (a must try) and that was good but I am still a zuppa tuscana gal. lol Service was good and everyone's friendly. Love the complimentary Andes chocolate mints at the end. Had to drive from Denham but def worth it. Buon appetito! xoxo

Came here for a late lunch a couple weeks ago. The food was pretty average. After I left, I went to the website given on the receipt and left them a review. The manager of the restaurant contacted me through the email and apologized, offering for us to come back and to make it "the best experience." We decided to give it a chance and came back a couple weekends after. This time it was completely different. The food was piping hot, the potions were huge and the service was amazing. They can definitely step up their game. It was one of the best restaurant experiences that I ever had at Olive Garden. So, I do recommend them and a good thing is that they care and they want you to be satisfied.

Great food and service; always clean and affordable. Calamari is best around and Lunch service is super fast even with an appetizer. Great wine selection and full bar. Never Ending Pasta bowl is my favorite time of year.

I usually always have a good experience at Olive Garden and yesterday was great. We were told it would be about a 45 minute wait when we arrived and it was pretty much that. The food was great, I had the Tour of Italy, my wife had Shrimp and Chicken Carbonara, my daughter had the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, and loved it too. The salad was good and the breadsticks were good. I love the basic homestyle Italian food that Olive Garden specializes in. The tomato sauces, the cream sauces are all very good. I have been to other Italian Restaurants that have pricier menus, fancy chefs and while definitely more expensive, not any better. I am always satisfied with the quality of service and food for the price paid.

Eh. I have been to many Olive Gardens...this one is probably the one I was not impressed with. As soon as you walk in there is a funky smell. I don't know what it is but it stinks. It almost reminds me of sour milk. I'm serious. As I waited for my table, I took a good look around and I realized how dirty and disorganized the place actually was. The floors were filthy. Finally our table was avaliable, we followed our waitress to our booth, as soon as I sat down I could feel how sticky the table was. So gross. We waited for our breadsticks, salad, and drinks. When our salad arrived I was ready to dig in, except I was stopped because I realized how disgusting my utensils were. THERE WAS LEFT OVER FOOD STUCK ON IT. I was so grossed out I skipped my salad and ate some breadsticks. I asked the waitress to get me another set of utensils, it only took her like a million years. My main entrée arrived BEFORE she got me new utensils. It was insane. Italian food is my favorite food, I am a crazy pasta lover. But coming here seriously turned me off. I had such a horrible time here I don't know if I ever want to go to another Olive Garden again.

Our experience was wonderful!! My husband loves the wild berry smoothie. Which we found they no longer have, but our amazing waiter Tyler found a way to recreate it and my husband couldn't even taste a difference. Our glasses were NEVER empty, we always had breadsticks, we never had an empty table. The timing was fast, as soon as we finished one thing the next was out! Tyler and his crew were excellent! We will be back!! And we will be asking for Tyler!!

Seriously love the Olive Garden and nothing makes the experience better than the actual service. Tony was our server and he was absolutely excellent. Best service I've had at a restaurant in BR in years. The food is great and although there can be long waits I feel like it is worth the wait. The prices are pretty good, however the small glasses of wine can make your bill slowly Increase.

Decent food and service if you don't mind waiting a long time to be seated. The food is mediocre at best... The upside to this restaurant is the all you can eat bread sticks and salad. The deal beaker for me is the fact that the place is simply dirty every time I have been here ( in the restaurants defense the last two times I visited were during rush hour).. My last two experiences here were just disgusting.. Both times we were seated my family had to step over dropped food that was left on the ground in the walk ways and when we were seated we were greeted by the previous customers food that wasn't wiped of the table, and what was wiped off was left on the ground by our feet under the table, and none the less my fork was dirty and had food stuck to it , I guess food the dishwasher didn't remove... Never again!!! This place reminds me of a feeding trough !!

My lovely pal Sabrina V. "treated" me to dinner here this past Sunday but it was far from a treat. The only thing that was good was my water, and as we all know...water is too hard to mess up. I have been to Olive Garden only a handful of times, with my best experience being at a location in Houston. However, the Baton Rouge Olive Garden is far from my favorite place to dine....especially if I am picking the place. First of all, our server at the bar was really nice, quiet but nice and was helpful...so my issue is not with the staff. My issue is with the food. I ordered something outside of my comfort zone...Chicken Parmesan. I like homemade Chicken Parmesan, but I assumed that this would be pretty close to homemade.....NOT. PSYCH. WE DON'T. It was frozen chicken breasts, fried with about a fourth of a teaspoon of sauce. I had to request extra sauce twice. It also came with a side of spaghetti and meat sauce, and again...not enough sauce. Chef Boyardee spaghetti in the can is better than this travesty. The bread was not hot, the salad had 3 croutons....unacceptable. No more Olive Garden for me. I will stick with Carraba's! Enjoy your Christmas decorations, Sabrina V. They look amazing!!! xoxo

Olive garden holds special place in my heart as this is the first restaurant I tried after I arrived in US from India! My personal favorite dish here is eggplant permasean(I don't know if I spelled that correct)

Did not have to wait even though we arrived at 6:00 on a Friday night. Our server was one of the best servers I have ever had. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and nice. the food was good. The bread sticks and salad are always good and the entrees were tasty. I got one of the lighter options (grilled chicken with peach sauce) and it was flavorful and healthy!

I went to this restaurant yesterday with my father(my mother came in later). I saw the advertisement for the new meatball sandwich. I figured since I signed up days prior, let me check this place out. Man oh man, that was a huge mistake!! They weren't serving the meatball sandwiches on weekends, not to mention they lacked a lot of items we've seen in commercials on their menus! The glasses we drunk out of were dirty. The service was alright but come to find out, they were out of flat breads!!! Come on, son! So we had to make different decisions on what we wanted to eat because we figured they wouldn't have it either. The salad was nasty too! The pizza was too small for that price. The only thing that was good, was the bread and beignets(which I got for free). smh I do not recommend this place to anyone!!
(1)Kimberly A.
I can agree with the other reviewers that this location can have a long wait if visiting on weekends or meal times. The Ollie is also located in the middle of the shopping mecca on Seigen Lane. I would suggest to plan accordingly and show up at non peak times. I have been here several times. The soup and salad combo never disappoints. And since it is endless, I have control on if I eat like a starving banshee or a puny mouse. Thumbs up for me!

Service was poor at best and the breadsticks and food tasted like rubber. The beer was as expected.

I will not eat at this restaurant because me and my father went there one time (our first time) and there was a SUPER long wait (over an hour) so we decided to wait in the bar area. It was dirty, used napkins on the bar and floor, food slung and stuck to the walls of the planter that seperates the bar from the corridor where you first walk in, and it was VERY hot in there. I asked if their A/C was broken and they told us no. So that is how they keep it. Wow......*speechless*. So we ended up leaving and went to Macaroni Grill instead. I would've loved to have tried some of the delish looking entrees they advertise on tv but the long wait in a hot, dirty bar was not my idea of a nice restaurant when I had all the other restaurants in B. R. to choose from. Sorry....this one is a no-go.

Omg everything was so good

The service was great but the food was mediocre at best--without a doubt the WORST Olive Garden in the chain. The Chianti-braised short ribs were dry and flavorless and the sauce was sweet and cloying. The fresh asparagus spears (all four of them) were the highlight of the meal. Hubby had the smoked Mozzarella chicken that had 4 pieces (bite size) in a broken, greasy, flavorless cheese sauce. The salad was as good as always and the lukewarm soup (once they heated it up to serving temperature) was very good. Our server was very good and rates in the top 5% in all-time servers. She should move up the food chain to a restaurant with good food! Go to Monjuni's instead, cheaper and much better. As the final insult, we had a to go order to take home to hubby's mother and the idiots didn't put the dessert we paid for in the order. Lousy food and screwed out of the $5.95 plus tax for the dessert. I'm just dying to go back to this hellhole. Where's Gordon Ramsey when you need him???
